Breanna Learned How To Loom Knit

This is Breanna, she is 13 and wanted to learn how to loom knit.

She saw a blog of a young girl who made skull caps and wanted to make one.

I gave her yarn, a loom, and instructions how to do a knit and a purl stitch.

she made this hat real fast and it is her own pattern.

After she went outside to show her friends what she could do they wanted to make one also

so Angel and Danny came in and tried their hand at it.

Prayer Shaw

There are some asking for a easy triangle shaw so I decided to put the pattern on my blog so that the people that are not on ravelry can see it.

This pattern is very easy since i made it as one of my first projects and at that time only knew the e-rap stitch.

I used 1 strand of red heart yarn and one strand of a thin yarn on my shaw.

Large Yellow Round Loom.E-raped 2 pegs.

Knit back to stitch #1.You will increase 1 stitch every other row till all pegs are in use.

Knit 2 rows over all pegs.

Now decrease 1 stitch every other row till you have 2 pegs with stitches on them.

Bind off.I used fringe on my shaw but you could crochet around it if you want.

All finished.

It is said that when you wrap a prayer shaw around you God is wraping his arms around you.

My Yarn Winder

This is a picture of my yarn winder. The yarn is a pounder and you can see I have about 1/2 lb balled and thought you would like to see it.

Laura Mae

This is my new great grandchild Laura Mae. She is named after her other great grandma and great, great grandma. I wish I lived closer to them as they live 100 miles away and don't get to see her very often.

Isn't she the sweetest little thing .

Her mommy Sarah Mae is my first grandaughter/grandchild.

As you can see the sacque I made her is so big on her but guess that is better then being to small on her lol.

Since I made her circle baby blanket blue and white I guess I will have to make one in a different color. Good thing I joined in the loom along for the pinwheel blanket. Will be fun knitting with others doing the blanket. I found a great site for doing the edge arround it on another blogsite and saved it so i could do it on another round blanket. I like the pointed edge and think i will use that one on mine. What do you think?

CHOCOLATE GRAVY

2 heaping tablespoon coco
3 heaping tablespoon flour
7 heaping tablespoon sugar (can use splenda if you can’t have regular sugar).
2 tablespoon vanilla
pinch of salt (i don't use)
2 1/2 cups milk
1 tablespoon butter

Mix dry ingreadents in a saucepan.

Add milk and vanilla slowly on med fire, stirring constantly.
After it thickens like gravy take off heat and add butter.
Pour over hot biscuits.

My New Toy

Hi Everyone,

I just had to post a picture of my new toy.

Won the bid on ebay for this pretty little toy. It is made my DA looms. Even got the yarn with with it.

I wish I could play with it now but I am in the middle of designing a little pair of pants for a baby and still have to upload the baby sacque.
I will have these patters up and for sale soon.

Robin McCoy has been great about helping me get them ready. A GREAT BIG THANK YOU ROBIN. (HUGGGGGGGGS) One sweet lady.

Going to start posting some recipes that I think you ladies will enjoy. I am typing up one now and probably post it tomorrow. It is for Chocolate Gravy. Come on now stop saying ewwwwwww. I also said that when I heard of it. But if you like chocolate you will love this, and the kids go crazy over it. I made this for my grandchildran and they all ask me to give the recipe to their mother. Well you all have a nice day and come back tomorrow and get that recipe.

This is offered to you so that you can learn the way to figure out short rowing.
Once you learn this formula you will be able to do hats shawls or Afghans.
CIRCULAR SHAW OR AFGHAN

According to Alles Hutchenson:

There is probably more advanced math in than in anything else you have done.
The entire piece is done by short rows (partial knitting).
You will need only one measurement-how wide do you want the finish piece to be.
For example we will use 2.25 stitches and 4 rows = 1 inch. The diameter will be 40 inches. With
10 panels. You will substitute your own stitches and rows, and how many panels you want, but
follow the same principle.

(1) Find the circumference of the circle.
FORMULA: to find the diameter of a circle, multiply the circumference of a circle,
40 inch circle.
40 x 3.14 (pi) = 125.6 (six is larger then 5 so the answer is 126)

(2) Change inches to rows.
126 x 4 rows per inch = 504 rows around the edge.

(3) Decide how many panels you want:
10 panels .....504 rows divided by 10 panels = 50.4 (4 is less then 5 so the answer is
50).

(4) Find the radius of circle and change inches to stitches.
Radius = ½ the diameter of the circle.
40 inches divided by 2 = 20
20 x 2 stitches per inch = 40 stitches, (this is what you will cast on).

(5) Shape this by short rows so that it will become a pie shaped piece.
Each section will be short rowed down to the next to the last group. The last group `
will not be worked. Then 2 rows are knitted over all needles.
Since short rows are done only on alternate rows, divide the number of rows by 2.
50 rows divided by 2 = 25 rows.

(6) Distribute the stitches evenly over these rows.
You have 40 stitches to shape in 25 rows.
Since the answer you want is stitches, divide rows into stitches.
25 rows divided into 50 = 2 stitches to short row.

50
Therefore you will short row 2 stitches every other row

Magic Formula Baby Blanket

Just thought i would give you a peek at my magic formula baby blanket.
What is magic formula?
It is a formula a very old friend of mine made up many many years ago. She passed away about 10 years ago but before she went to that happy knitting place in heaven she passed alone to me. I had it tucked away with my design board. Well I will lift up my cup of coffee to Alles (sounds like Alice) and say thank you for teaching me this my friend. It is a formula you to figure out how to do decreases.

Grab a cup of coffee or tea and lets get to know each other.
I retired in August of 2007 and have all the time in the world to knit.
I have quite a bit of yarn since I used to own a knitting machine and yarn business, so can play with it.
I saw some of you have received a yarn winder for christmas. Well let me tell you i would hate to give up mine. It is a large winder that i used to use in my business and I can get two large balls of yarn out of a pounder. I also still have the electric winder that winds yarn on cones, (the ones like you get the large sugar and cream yarn on) but don't use it anymore. Guess i should try to sell it on ebay. Goodness i better get up to that attic and see what is up there, lol.
I love to make up my own patterns so I kept my knitting board grid. I love it....just use it then erase it and start over.
I live in a small resort town and it the winter time there are not many people that live around me but come summer time there are tons of people.
I live next to an amusement park and the kids love going there in summer but they having problems right now and don't think they will open it this summer.
I live in the snow belt and seems like there is always snow on the ground.
I just finished making a baby sacque for our new baby. She is so small she will be able to use it all winter long.
Well i guess i better get going and let you ladies and gents get back to your looming.
